Drs. Martin and CoreyDepartment of Surgery Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Colin Martin, M.D., and General Surgery Residency Program Director Britney Corey, M.D., will be a resource for interested students at the Latino Medical Student Association national conference.

The conference, which is Mar. 13–15, will feature a panel of UAB Surgery representatives to answer any questions on the General Surgery Residency Program, aspects of UAB, and the city of Birmingham during exhibitor times. Martin will be available on Mar. 13 from 3:30-4:30 p.m., while Corey will be available on Mar. 14 from 2-2:30 p.m.

The theme of this years’ conference is Potenciar El Cambio: Creating Interconnection in Healthcare to Create Change. LMSA exists to unite and empower current and future physicians through service, mentorship, and education to advocate for the improved health of the Hispanic & Latina/o/x community in the United States.​

In addition to the LMSA national conference, the Student National Medical Association has invited UAB faculty members or residents to speak on a panel at their national conference.
