Dr. CollinsDalis E. Collins, D.V.M., DACLAM, joined the UAB Department of Surgery as an assistant professor in March 2021.

Collins has an additional primary appointment with UAB Animal Resources Program as a senior clinical laboratory animal veterinarian. Before joining UAB in 2020, she worked at Baylor College of Medicine as an assistant professor in the department of surgery as well as a clinical laboratory animal veterinarian in the Center for Comparative Medicine.

Collins received her Bachelor of Science in engineering science and cellular/molecular biology from Vanderbilt and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, with a small animal emphasis, from the University of Georgia

Collins completed her three-year post-doctoral research fellowship and residency at the University of Michigan, Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine. Her research interests include translational large animal surgical models, inflammation and cellular immunology.
