MARSPhoto credit: Amanda AbbettThere is no worse feeling then getting to your car after a long day of work, only to find you’ve locked your keys in your car or your battery is dead. Well, maybe commuting to work and getting a flat tire on campus.

UAB Transportation’s Motorist Assistance Roadside Service program, known as MARS, seeks to fix that for UAB employees. These everyday heroes are a no-cost service available to all UAB employees, students and visitors, including those at UAB Hospital and on-campus clinics.

Recently, MARS announced its new hours include 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. According to MARS, this temporary change comes in response to recent labor shortages, and the program hopes to resume regular hours as soon as possible.

MARS can fix everything from dead battery, a flat tire, an empty gas tank or locked-in car keys fast and for free, as long as the caller in on campus.

To reach MARS, motorists can call 205-975-MARS (6277). Be sure to save the number for a rainy day and note their new hours.
