UAB Department of Surgery Associate Professor Colin Martin, M.D., FACS, has been admitted into the prestigious Halsted Society.
The Halsted Society, one of the oldest surgical organizations in the country, limits membership to 90 surgeons and other individuals in allied branches of medicine. Members must be nominated for admission.
Martin is President-Elect of the Medical Staff at Children's of Alabama and serves as the Surgical Director of the UAB/Children's of Alabama Center for Advanced Intestinal Rehabilitation. He is the Associate Vice Chair for Diversity Equity and Inclusion at UAB and the Co-Director of the Pre-College Research Internship for Students from Minority Backgrounds (PRISM) program.
“I am honored to be chosen as a member of the Halsted Society. I look forward to collaborating with this exceptional group and contributing to the Society in the years to come,” said Martin.
Martin will join the Society in Charlottesville, Virginia for their yearly convening in 2023. The following year, the Halsted Society will make its way to Birmingham, Alabama, where UAB will host the 98th annual meeting.
