Killian 400x300General Surgery Resident Alixandra Cozette Killian, M.D., MPH, was recently selected to receive one of the 2023 Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) Looking to the Future (LTTF) Scholarships.

The LTTF Scholarship program provides mentorship for exceptional general surgery residents to encourage their pursuit of a career in cardiothoracic surgery.

Killian follows in the footsteps of the following UAB General Surgery residents who have received this scholarship in past years:

2022 – Marvi Tariq, M.D.
2020 – Amar Asban, M.D.
2019 – Brett Melnikoff, M.D.
2017 – Vanessa Miller, M.D.

Killian will receive complimentary registration for the STS 59th Annual Meeting, held January 21-23 in San Diego. In addition to complimentary registration and hotel provisions, the scholarship includes participation in exclusive events and reimbursement of up to $500 in related travel expenses.

“I am so grateful for this opportunity to gain greater exposure to the field of cardiothoracic surgery and for all the support and guidance from UAB Surgery faculty that made it possible,” says Killian.
