The UAB Section of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and Division of Pediatric Cardiology has been ranked in the top 20 children’s hospitals for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery by USA News & World Report.
At number 15 out of 50 ranked pediatric cardiology programs across the country, the division is the only ranked program of its specialty in Alabama.
The division’s multidisciplinary team of specialists provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art care for patients with a broad array of cardiac-related diseases. The division is a leading program in pediatric heart surgery for the southeast and has had one of the best observed to expected mortality ratings in the entire country.
Specialty programs were evaluated based on an extensive data-driven review of three primary aspects of healthcare: structure, process, and outcomes. Scores combine expert opinions from pediatric specialists with performance measures across thirty categories, including:
