Dr. Benjamin PearceUAB Program Director of Vascular Surgery Integrated Residency and Fellowship Benjamin Pearce, M.D., has been selected as the president-elect of the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery (APDVS).

Pearce is the William D. Jordan, Jr. Endowed Professor in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy. Dr. Jordan, in fact, was President of the APDVS as well from 2016-2018.

“This is truly humbling for me. The members of the APDVS are dedicated to trainee education and exemplary patient care; to be selected by my peers for this leadership role is the highest honor of my career. I’m proud to continue the legacy of leadership in education forged at UAB." says Pearce. “Ultimately, the real credit goes to the strength in character and ability of the young people that have trained at UAB Vascular over the years.”

Pearce completed his medical degree at the University of Texas and his general surgery residency at the University of Chicago. He was the Vascular fellow at UAB from 2007-2009 and became a faculty member in 2013.

The Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery (APDVS) includes the directors of all vascular surgery training programs in the United States. The association's mission is to address the educational, regulatory, and financial issues that impact the education of future vascular surgeons.
