Through various partnerships between surgeons, researchers and engineers, we are developing new surgical devices and technologies to enhance the surgical options available to patients and to provide surgeons with cutting-edge tools to use in the operating room. Current investigations are focused on improving the approach to islet cell transplantation, developing optogenetics and optical pacing devices, and developing an improved stapling device for gastrointestinal surgery.
