As a certified Listener Poet, Salaam Green with UAB Arts in Medicine is working with UAB professionals to create poems based on their experiences for National Poetry Month in April.
Presented by UAB Arts in Medicine, experts will provide insight into what happens physically and mentally surrounding a high-stakes performance and how performers can address the fear.

The study, from UAB’s Institute for Arts in Medicine, shows that learning tricks in a magic camp can boost feelings of self-esteem and confidence in children and adolescents with disabilities.
Classes will be Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at noon; $5 each or $50 for the entire semester.

UAB’s Alys Stephens Center will present free concerts by Eric Essix and Tracy Hamlin, DeQn Sue, Red Baraat, Stefon Harris + Blackout and Rollin’ In The Hay. Blues legend Keb’ Mo’ will perform a live-stream concert May 13; tickets are $20 per device.
Arts events in January will also include an AEIVA artist gallery talk, an arts and disabilities discussion, a creative writing workshop, lunch and learn, and more.
