The UAB Critical Care Nephrology Innovation Hub is looking for a motivated and multifaceted individual to join our team and be part of intramural and extramural funded projects of multimodal big data analytics using novel tools of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML). Postdoctoral Position Description


  • A PhD degree in biostatistics, biomedical informatics, computer science, or related areas.
  • Use of advanced statistical and technical skills in the analysis and reporting of data elements, data management and transformation, quality assurance, visualization, and supporting verification of statistical results.
  • Develop advanced analytical plans and tool development for multimodal data extraction, transformation, interrogation and utilization.
  • Develop and validate novel algorithms for disease risk-classification and sub-phenotyping using AI/ML.
  • Develop implementation AI/ML studies using novel adaptive trial design platforms and evolving digital health technologies.
  • Perform database queries using SQL as needed in such a way as to ensure data quality for analysis.
  • Write scientific findings for manuscripts and evaluations, preparing data for presentations, literature searches to suggest new approaches to analyses or manuscript ideas for the current data.
  • Collaborate with data programmers and network security administrators to advise relevant design and to ensure the resultant data is in a format that can be readily and accurately analyzed.
  • Biostatistics background performing quantitative analysis, data processing and database management according to project needs.
  • Experience in managing large multimodal datasets and using existing AI/ML packages.
  • Experience in creating dashboards.
  • Experience in federal and non-federal grant writing.
  • Experience in supporting and guiding trainees.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to include the ability to generate high quality writing and written and oral presentations. Provide support in the writing of project drafts and research articles in appropriate and formal academic language.
  • Must have the ability to work independently towards assigned project goals related to data management and data analysis and the ability to work in a team setting consulting with other team members to achieve project goals. Punctually and rigorously, and most importantly, integrity to carry out their activities.
