The Pathology Core Research Lab (PCRL) provides state-of-the-art histology and histomorphometric analysis of various tissue samples including soft tissues and hard tissues (bones w/i or w/o implants.) We also process all types of biomaterials, including engineering scaffolds and 3-D co-cultured samples. Analysis is performed on samples from mouse, rat, rabbit, dog, monkey, and human tissue. Other services include a wide array of special stains and immunohistochemistry.
 
Our laboratory has assisted researchers from such diverse departments as Nutrition Science, Pathology, Microbiology, Gerontology, Hematology/Oncology, Biomedical Engineering, Orthopaedics, Neuropathology, Neuroscience, Rheumatology, Dental Biomaterials, Cell Biology and Physics. We also provide services to external users and researchers from industry.

Histology-hard tissue (non-decaled) processing (bones with implant or without implant), embedding (PMMA, plastic), sectioning, and staining;

Histology-soft tissue or decaled bone tissue processing, paraffin embedding, sectioning and staining;

Histology-cryosection preparation;

Immunohistochemistry stain and various special stains;

Exakt cutting and grinding on implanted tissue;

Histomorphometry and imaging.
