UAB Informatics comprises a partnership between the Center for Clinical and Translational Science and the Informatics Institute to provide informatics services to UAB investigators.  Services support a broad spectrum of biomedical and clinical applications; informatics algorithm and tool development (Computer Science); support for basic research including the analysis of 'omics data (Bioinformatics); accessing and processing data needed to support clinical research studies (Clinical Research Informatics); health outcomes research (Health Informatics); and patient care (Clinical Informatics).  We provide consultation and collaborative assistance on accessing, collecting, managing, and analyzing data needed to support any of these sub disciplines, along with expertise in the development of new analytic procedures.  Our staff consists of Bioinformaticians, Clinical Informaticians, Systems Architects, and Systems Analysts, who are available to support the full breadth of your analytical needs.  The staff are supervised by UAB Faculty members with expertise across this entire spectrum of services.  Importantly, through the UAB Informatics Gateway, investigator projects can be presented to, and assessed by UAB Informatics personnel along with Biostatisticians and other faculty members who can provide input on Study Design and the application of informatics and statistical techniques to research studies.  This assessment can be useful for the preparation of grant applications and to support ongoing research studies.
