Heather Edwards is the Project Manager for Research Operations in the Office of Research. She coordinates short and long-term operational initiatives from concept to implementation.
Heather brings to the position more than 15 years of experience working at medical and health care delivery research funders. Most recently, Heather was a leader on the Evaluation and Analysis team at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), focused on improving organizational processes, and monitoring progress and reporting success of PCORI’s funding activities. Prior to her PCORI experience, Heather was a Leidos Biomedical Behavioral Scientist at the National Cancer Institute, researching and supporting efforts to advance the fields of cancer care delivery and shared decision making in screening. She also spent time at the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Health Specialist focused on developing patient engagement and shared decision-making resources.
Heather has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Samford University, master’s degrees in Journalism and Public Health, and a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of Florida, and an MBA from UAB.
