University Risk Management, part of the UAB Office of Compliance & Risk Assurance, supports the mission of UAB to enrich society and improve health and well-being through transformational educational experiences, groundbreaking research, innovation and entrepreneurship, community engagement, and world-class patient care. We do this by partnering with the university community to identify, assess, and mitigate risks—fostering a culture of risk awareness and proactive risk management across campus.

We proudly serve UAB faculty, staff, and students by offering a wide range of services, including:

• Consultative reviews of planned or anticipated activities
• Incident investigation and claims management
• Development of risk mitigation strategies
• Contract review
• Insurance procurement and policy management for UAB specific risks

We are also your first point of contact for all insurance-related questions. While many insurance policies are managed by the UA System Office, our team may also procure and administer specialized insurance programs tailored to UAB’s unique needs.
