Application Deadlines

Deadline on all application materials for Early Acceptance is March 1st.
Final deadline on all application materials is August 1st.

Application Fee

The application fee for domestic applicants and green card holders is $50 and application fee for international applicants is $60.

Instructions for completing the application

Prospective students may apply at any time during the year; however, students begin program courses in Fall Semester. Applications are submitted online through UAB Graduate School. All Admissions documents (Test Scores, Transcripts, Immigration documents, WES, etc.) must be sent to UAB Graduate School.

Official transcripts from each institution where college credit was received to be mailed to :

They can also be submitted electronically by choosing University of Alabama- Graduate Admission or using the email gradschool@uab.edu.

*Another Biology course (applicable toward a degree) may be substituted by the Biotechnology Program advisor.

Application Requirements:

  • A Baccalaureate degree from a Regionally Accredited Institution
  • Applicants must meet all requirements of the UAB Graduate School.
  • Applicants must submit a personal statement of interest to the program, and submit 3 letters of recommendation.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 or a 3.0 on the last 60 hours attempted
  • Completion of the following prerequisite courses with letter grades C or better

International Requirements

IELTS – 6.5
TOEFL – 80
PTEA – 53

  • Financial Affidavit of Support
  • Immigration documentation if currently residing in the US
