Clinical Informatics Graduate Certificate

GCCI LandingThe Graduate Certificate in Clinical Informatics from UAB is designed to expand or supplement your current, working understanding of health informatics and healthcare information technology beyond what typical on-the-job training can offer. Offered completely online, you can finish our four self-paced courses in only two semesters.

Our Graduate Certificate will position you to make effective decisions about development, implementation and evaluation of clinical information systems. You will learn from nationally recognized experts in Health Informatics how to best use information technology while also considering the expertise and workflow of practicing clinicians as well as how to create positive bottom lines and patient outcomes for your organization. This program can be taken completely online. No on-campus coursework is required.

Admissions Requirements

Applicants must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited university and a GPA of 3.00 or higher for the past 60 hours of course work and submit a completed application by the specified deadline.  No GRE required. Application Process

The application must be submitted by May 31 for admission to the Fall term. Apply through the UAB Graduate School application or visit the UAB Graduate School website for more information about the application process.

The following items are required in order for your application to be considered complete and ready for review. All of the items may be uploaded or sent directly through the UAB Graduate School application portal.

  • Non-refundable application fee of $25
  • Personal essay statement highlighting your desire for enrollment and how you will utilize the knowledge and skills gained in your professional career
  • Current resume or CV outlining your professional work experience
  • Official transcripts of all pervious academic work beyond secondary submitted directly to the UAB Graduate School.
