The UAB Department of Physical Therapy recently hosted Justin Moore, CEO of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), for a collaborative event that brought together students and faculty from UAB and Samford University.
The event began with presentations from UAB faculty members Andrea Bowens, Ashley Parish and LaDarius Woods, alongside Dana Blake of Samford University.
The session focused on the APTA, the benefits of membership and opportunities for involvement through sections and academies. Presenters also discussed APTA Alabama, advocacy efforts and APTA's current priorities within the profession.
Following the presentation, students participated in a Q&A session with Moore and Kendell Jno-Finn, a UAB Department of Physical Therapy alumnus and founder of M3 Endeavors.
The discussion centered on advocacy and career navigation within the physical therapy profession, allowing students from UAB and Samford to engage directly with professional and alumni leaders in the field.
By bringing together faculty, students, alumni and national professional leadership, the event fostered dialogue about the future of physical therapy and opportunities for involvement within the profession. The UAB Department of Physical Therapy was honored to host Moore and grateful to all participants who contributed to the collaborative experience.
