For the third year in a row, a team from the UAB School of Health Professions' Physician Assistant Studies program wins the UAB Gurney Derby!

Congratulations to "Fly by the Seat of your PANCE" - a tribute to the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) - featuring Emily Delbo, Lindsey Lawrence, Michael McDaniel, and Chris Powers- all second-year PA students. Their winning time of 28.62 seconds was 1.12 seconds faster than the runner up team.

That 2nd place team also happens to be a group of PA students. Eleanor Burke, Stephen Gray, Alaina Hall, and Samuel Murphree are all first-year PA students. And we should note, this is the second consecutive year that our PA Studies students have taken the top two spots in the Gurney Derby.

Students from our B.S. in Biomedical Sciences (BMD) program entered a gurney in the race. The team of Racheal Fairley, Greg Jenkins, Landry Oden, and Andy Woods turned in a strong performance for Team UAB BMD, but did not earn a place.

The "PANCE" team also won the Most Creative Passenger award for honoring longtime faculty member Bill Drace who is retiring soon.
