Join Disability Support Services as they welcome Kevin Orr, current head coach for the Japan Wheelchair Rugby Federation, on Feb. 16 at 5:00 p.m. 

Growing up with Arthrogryposis in Algonquin, IL Kevin Orr pursued local sports including; swimming, soccer, and wrestling. At age 16, Orr watched the wheelchair racing exhibition at the 1984 Olympic Games. After learning about the potential for wheelchair sports, Orr was inspired to enroll at the University of Illinois and engage with their program for disabled athletes. 

During the lecture, Orr will discuss his journey with his disability and adaptive sports. From winning the Bronze medal in the 800-meter and 5,000-meter races at the 1988 Paralympics in Seoul to become the head coach for the Japan Wheelchair Rugby Federation—Orr’s journey is an inspiration for all sports enthusiasts.
