The Division of Student Affairs Employee of the Month for September is Brad Goggins, associate director of Housing and Dining Facilities for Student Housing and Residence Life.

As associate director for Housing and Dining Facilities, Brad Goggins has been an integral member of our Student Housing and Dining team since arriving on campus in the spring of 2019.
That first spring, Brad was immediately thrust into a busy summer schedule of projects, repairs, renovations, and cleaning to ready the residence halls for returning and new students in the fall. Little did we know what lay in wait the following spring of 2020 with COVID. To say that Mr. Goggins was vital to our COVID response and support of residents (and the campus during COVID) is an understatement. If a department or administrator needed something done, they were never shy to say, "See if Housing can help." And in almost every case, Brad Goggins was involved in the solution.
Not long after catching our collective breath once COVID cases diminished, Brad was called on to step up again in preparing and planning for our campus to host The World Games, which would entail over 30,000 bed nights of housing accommodations and over 100,000 meals served in Dining. Over 18 months, Mr. Goggins and his team laid the groundwork for success by preparing, cleaning, restoring, repairing, and managing all residence hall beds to house over 4,500 athletes and officials who would call UAB home while competing and supporting The Games. Countless hours were invested in planning, executing, evaluating, and adjusting our strategic approach to providing an attractive, safe, and comfortable environment for our international visitors.
His leadership, kindness, empathy, tenacity, and tireless work ethic have propelled him to "rockstar" status and earned him the respect and trust of his team, University administration, residents, parents, peers, and his family.
He loves UAB. He embodies what a servant leader is all about.
