About the Game Room
The Game Room offers a variety of gaming options for students to enjoy. Available consoles include the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Wii U. Our video game library features over 100 titles spanning a wide range of genres, including action, adventure, racing, sports, fighting, strategy, puzzle, and party games. In addition to video games, we also offer more than 25 board games, providing options for both casual and group play. Whether students are looking to relax, socialize with friends, or engage in friendly competition, the Game Room has something for everyone.

Hours of Operation
Monday through Thursday: 10am–9pm
Friday: 10am–6pm
Saturday: 10am–2pm
Sunday: 12pm–9pm

Access to Space
- Only active UAB students may use the HSC Game Room.
- Students must check in at the Game Room desk using their ONE Card.
- Access is first-come, first-served.
- Maximum capacity is 30 patrons.
- If capacity is reached, students must return later.

Equipment Use
A ONE Card must be left with the Game Room Attendant to check out electronic equipment or game boards. Equipment must be returned in the same condition in which it was checked out. Damage caused by improper use may result in financial responsibility and loss of privileges.
Improper use includes, but is not limited to:
- Throwing, dropping, or mishandling equipment.
- Using equipment for purposes other than intended.
- Tampering with or modifying games or electronics.
- Bringing food or drinks near sensitive equipment.
Equipment is prohibited from leaving the Game Room.
The Hill Student Center is not responsible for any personal equipment or belongings brought into the Game Room. -
Facility Rules
- Food is only permitted in the Game Room when no equipment or gameboards are checked out.
- Beverages are allowed only in containers with secure, spill-resistant lids.
- Furniture should remain in its designated location.

Code of Conduct
- Appropriate attire, including shoes, must be worn at all times.
- All patrons are expected to maintain a respectful and safe environment.
- Profanity, excessive noise, and disruptive behavior are prohibited.
Disruptive behavior includes, but is not limited to: aggressive behavior, misuse of equipment, ignoring staff instructions, loud music, yelling, and any conduct that disturbs other patrons from enjoying the space.
Cancellations
a. Reservations for all HSC managed spaces should be cancelled no later than five (5) business days prior to the beginning of the scheduled reservation. Events cancelled prior to five (5) business days will incur no charges associated with the reservation.
b. Reservations cancelled less than five (5) business days, but more than 48hrs prior to the start time of the scheduled event will be assessed 50% of the total cost of the reservation amount listed on the completed Reservation Agreement.
Reservations cancelled less than 48hrs prior to the start of the scheduled event will be assessed 100% (full amount) of the cost of the reservation listed on the completed Reservation Agreement.No Shows/Failure to Cancel
No shows or failure to cancel any event reservation will be assessed 100% (full amount) of the cost of the reservation listed on the completed Reservation Agreement. NOTE: Cancellations MUST be submitted online via the HSC Reservation Cancellation Form. Cancellation requests will NOT be accepted via phone, email, walk-in or other means.Late Arrivals
Ensuring reservations begin at the scheduled time is the sole responsibility of the reserving party. Event ending time may not be extended due to late arrival, however HSC will make every effort to accommodate adjustments whenever possible. Late arrivals will be assessed 100% (full-amount) of the cost of the reservation listed on the completed Reservation Agreement. -
Policy Violations
Failure to follow Game Room policies may result in disciplinary action, including:
- Verbal warning from staff
- Temporary suspension of Game Room privileges
- Financial responsibility for damaged equipment
- Removal from the Game Room
- Referral to appropriate university offices, if necessary
