The minor in Spanish for Business is perfect for students majoring in business, international studies, engineering, criminal justice, accounting and finance, communication studies, government, and social work. It is also a great option for local professionals.

The online course SPA 313: Business Spanish earned the Quality Matters seal of excellence in May 2015. It is the first online class receiving such an esteemed recognition in the UAB College of Arts and Sciences. This seal is a testament to the department's commitment to teaching excellence. Congratulations to Professor O'Leary for this well-deserved recognition.
The minor consists of 12 hours from 200- and 300-level courses. Students must have a knowledge of low-intermediate general Spanish (the equivalent of SPA 201) before starting the program. There are two options for students wishing to complete the minor:
  1. A mix of on-campus and online courses
  2. Online-only courses

On-Campus/Online Option

You will take:
  • SPA 206: Intermediate Spanish for the Professions
  • SPA 313: Business Spanish
  • Two electives
