Welcome to UAB's Department of Physics. Whether you are visiting our website as a potential student interested in our academic programs or just as a casual observer wanting to learn more about the world of physics, you will quickly find out that we provide a diversity of educational opportunities and programs in which students and faculty can excel both academically and professionally. The quest to learn and to apply this knowledge to understanding the nature of matter and the universe is fostered early in the student's academic career through the passion exhibited by the faculty for physics and in ensuring the success of our students. Not surprising, our students including undergraduates are at the forefront of making discoveries in research laboratories of our award-winning physics faculty. The exceptional educational opportunities afforded by the Department and its faculty along with the training its students receive at UAB has led our graduates to a diversity of career paths and options. So, check out the information on our website and see why our faculty and facilities for our instructional and research programs are among the best in the Southeast.
