Do you need to dispose of or recycle hazardous household materials such as cooking grease and paint? Drop off your hazardous waste materials on Hazardous Waste Day April 20th.

The Jefferson County Department of Health (JCDH) and the Storm Water Management Authority, Inc. (SWMA) are sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste Day for collecting and appropriately recycling household hazardous waste 8am-12pm on April 20th in two locations: Fairfield, at the old Wal-Mart, and Irondale, at the Habitat for Humanity. This event is offered to protect the local environment by providing citizens of Jefferson County an opportunity to dispose of hazardous items safely.

Site 1: Fairfield
7100 Aaron Aronov Drive, Fairfield, AL 35064

Site 2: Irondale
7952 Crestwood Blvd., Irondale, AL 35210 

Items acceptable for drop-off include:
  • Electronics
  • Paper, for onsite shredding
  • Pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers
  • Household cooking grease
  • Paint
  • Tires
  • White goods
  • Prescription drugs
  • Ammunition
  • Batteries
The waste collection will only be accessible to Jefferson County Residents with a valid driver’s license or photo ID with an address for residency verification.
