There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 7:30-9:20 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd, to the left of Lister Hill Library.

Chair of the Faculty, Mike Wyss, will give his monthly report. Provost and Senior Vice President, Pam Benoit, will give her quarterly report along with a Q&A and collaboration session. Lee Moradi, Faculty Senate member and Project Director for the Grand Challenge, will present an update regarding the UAB Grand Challenge. Josephine Banks, Executive Director Human Resources, will present an information session regarding Employee Assistance Counseling Center Services and gather feedback regarding what is/is not working. A Q&A and faculty advisement time will be included in each session.

The Faculty Senate will vote on the compiled changes/updates that will be made to the 2018-2019 UAB Faculty Handbook. Ria Hearld, Chair of Elections Cmte will give an update on the Faculty Senate elections.

Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Senate representatives will report on the activities of university-wide committees. An open forum time for faculty concerns and suggestions is also on the agenda. A full agenda is available on the Faculty Senate document website.

Attendance is open to all UAB faculty, students and staff. Attendees are free to come and go as their schedule allows. Breakfast refreshments will be available. 

If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.

For the Open Forum and Q&A/Faculty input portions of the meeting: You may raise your comment by raising your hand or you may write it on a 3X5 card and pass it across/forward to the Chair (3x5 cards available throughout the room).
