Criminal Justice Minor
Beginning Fall, 2006, students who declare the minor in criminal justice will have to satisfy a new set of requirements. Students who declared the minor prior to Fall, 2006 are not affected by these changes and will continue to use the requirements that existed at the time they declared the minor.
The new requirements for the CJ minor require the completion of 21 semester hours of coursework, including 15 hours of required courses and 6 hours of elective courses.
Required courses include:
The remaining 6 hours of electives must be taken at the 300 level or above from any of the available criminal justice electives. Transfer students must earn at least 6 hours of criminal justice credits at UAB in courses at the 300 level or higher. The requirements for the minor are fulfilled only by courses in which a grade of C or better is earned. The Department of Justice Sciences reserves the right to require a specific grade point average as an additional prerequisite for courses at the 300 level or above.
Students are strongly advised to refer to the UAB Undergraduate Catalog for additional information on the core curriculum, major, and minor requirements. Direct any questions to the SBS Advising Office located in Heritage Hall 510, 975-0097.
