Application & Signaling

We welcome applications from highly-qualified graduates of allopathic and osteopathic schools in the United States and abroad.

Only electronic applications via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) are accepted for Internal Medicine residency positions. We do not offer a preliminary internal medicine year. We do not accept any applications that are mailed or faxed to our office.

Application Consideration Criteria

  • Applicants who have signaled our program and meet our selection criteria will be preferentially considered for interviews. Students that did not signal our program will also be offered interviews.
  • Graduation date less than five years from the year that you are applying.
  • Your USMLE Step 1 score should be greater than or equal to 200 to be considered. For osteopathic applicants, your COMLEX level 1 score should be greater than or equal to 500 to be considered.
  • Your USMLE Step 2 score should be greater than or equal to 220 to be considered. For osteopathic applicants, your COMLEX level 2 score should be greater than or equal to 550 to be considered.
  • You must submit your Step 1 or COMLEX level 1 results with your application for your application to be considered by our program.
  • Due to COVID-19 and keeping in line with guidance from AAIM, our program waives requirements to have Step 2 CS completed and/or posted on your ERAS application.
  • Due to the highly competitive applications received by our program, any applications received with failed test scores will be more subject to higher review than those who do not.
  • U.S. graduates
    • Applicants from allopathic and osteopathic medical schools should be successfully graduated by June 1, 2024.
  • International graduates
    • You must hold the standard Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate at the time of the interview.
    • You must have a Step 2 score greater than or equal to 220 and preferably have passed Step 3.
    • Candidates with multiple attempts on any of the USMLE Steps will not be considered.
    • Hands-on U.S. clinical experience and familiarity with the US medical system is highly recommended, but not a requirement for our program.

The following documents are required by our program for your ERAS file to be considered complete and ready for review by our intern selection committee. Only complete applications will be reviewed.

  • Current Photo
  • Personal Statement
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
  • Dean's Letter
  • USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX level 1 scores. You must submit these results with your application for your application to be considered by our program.
  • Clinical Skills Assessment
  • For International Graduates, copy of your ECFMG certificate, if available.

A J1 visa sponsorship will be offered to candidates. Our program no longer sponsors H1 visas.
