Bonita S. Agee, BS, MPH, PhD holds the position of Epidemiologist and Biostatistician for Neurosurgery and Lecturer. She obtained her PhD and MPH degrees in Epidemiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a BS in Biology from Tuskegee University. With over 15 years' experience in clinical data management and data analysis support for large-scale, multi-institutional studies, her expertise augments our clinical and academic research endeavors. She has collaborated with colleagues and organizations at the international, community, and governmental levels. Acting as a network-wide liaison in conjunction with other medical professionals, she has worked on the development of data collection instruments, multisource database finalization, quality control audits and execution of statistical analysis ofclinical data for patient-oriented research projects.

With Dr. Agee's formal training as an epidemiologist, she serves as a primary statistical support resource for Neurosurgery faculty and residents by providing analytical and methodological expertise in research study design, database development, and statistical analysis for scientific publications and presentations. Her background also includes a former faculty appointment in the UAB School of Public Health teaching biostatistics concepts and statistical computer skills to non-majors. Dr. Agee's biostatistics teaching experience provides residents with a valuable resource for developing their clinical research skills through understanding the application of statistical techniques used in designing, conducting and evaluating research studies.

Dr. Agee also has her own neurosurgical research interests to which she devotes research efforts along with seeking collaborative endeavors with clinicians and investigators in other disciplines.
