Tropical Medicine Education: From the classroom to the field with German Henostroza

German Henostroza, M.D.German Henostroza, M.D.The Mary Heersink Institute for Global Health hosted guest seminar speaker German Henostroza, M.D., prominent tuberculosis (TB) researcher and director for the William Crawford Gorgas Center for Geographic Medicine, on June 6, 2023.

Henostroza attended medical school at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, completed his internal medicine residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, and an infectious disease fellowship at UAB. His research interests focus on TB diagnostics, clinical trials, TB vaccine clinical trials, and Health Systems Implementation in vulnerable populations with an emphasis on people who are incarcerated. His current programs are in Zambia, Panama, Peru, and Antigua and Barbuda.

While focusing on efforts to combat TB in tropical countries in this presentation, Henostroza shares applicable knowledge for multidisciplinary researchers facing similar health issues. Tune into the recorded seminar to learn more.
