“Taj Express: The Bollywood Revue” live Oct. 28 at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center

“Taj Express” is a high-energy celebration of new India’s pop music, Bollywood culture and deep traditions, featuring colorful costumes, joyful dance and thrilling live music.

Taj3Travel to the heart of contemporary Bollywood in “Taj Express: The Bollywood Revue,” a fusion performance of film, dance and music, Monday, Oct. 28.

“Taj Express” explodes with the sounds of India and Bollywood, capturing the vibrant, expressive spirit of the world of Bollywood movies that have entertained billions of people in India for generations. 

The performance follows the story of one man’s passion and another man’s genius. Young composer Shankar struggles with his music, and it is only when he begins to follow in the footsteps of his idol that he discovers his path to success. The production reveals the secrets of the world’s most prolific film industry and the people behind the screen who make the magic in India’s factory of dreams.

This dazzling international sensation takes audiences on a live cinematic journey through modern Indian culture and society. The production is a high-energy celebration of new India’s pop music, Bollywood culture and deep traditions, featuring colorful costumes, joyful dance and thrilling live music. “Taj Express” features the songs of Oscar winner A.R. Rahman, a cast of multitalented performers choreographed by top young Bollywood choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant, and is directed by Shruti Merchant.
