Support UAB scholarships with virtual Uncork Education event Nov. 7

Enjoy music from jazz legend Eric Essix, a silent auction, and take-out packages that include wine, beer, and even food for two, four or six guests.

Dokk2Show your support of University of Alabama at Birmingham student scholarships and take part in the virtual Uncork Education event​ “An Evening of Jazz with Eric Essix from the Alys Stephens Center​,” on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Enjoy music from jazz legend Essix live from UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center and take-home packages that include wine, beer and even food, along with a silent auction. This year’s virtual event will feature several levels of support and access; choose which package fits best for you. Uncork Education is presented by the UAB National Alumni Society

Bid on the online silent auction items Wednesday, Nov. 4-Saturday, Nov. 7. Registered guests will be able to view the auction items before the auction opens.  

All packages will be available for pickup between 3 and 5 p.m. on the day of the event, at the UAB Alumni House, 1301 10th Ave. South. Pickup for all levels of support, with the exception of Level 1, must be made at this time. The event will start at 6 p.m. Enjoy the virtual concert while eating in the comfort of your home. 

Since its debut, Uncork Education has raised nearly $530,000 toward student scholarships thanks to the generosity of its sponsors and guests. In 2019, the NAS was able to raise more than $57,000 during its11th annual Uncork Education. 

Register now online. The 2020 Uncork Education packages include:

  • Level 1, $10: music
  • Level 2, $25: music and two wine or beer glasses
  • Level 3, $75: music, two wine or beer glasses, and bottle of wine or flight of beer
  • Level 4, $125: music, two wine or beer glasses, bottle of wine or flight of beer, and dinner for two
  • Level 5, $250: music, four wine and/or beer glasses, two bottles of wine or two flights of beer, and dinner for four
  • Level 6, $500: music, six wine and/or beer glasses, three bottles of wine or three flights of beer, and dinner for six

Select your glasses, wine or beer, and red or white wine when registering. The NAS has partnered with Corretti Catering to provide the dinner selections; guests may choose a chicken dish or vegetarian option. 

Essix began his recording career in 1988 and has released more than two dozen albums in his three-decade career. In 2013, Essix became a UAB artist-in-residence. Essix has been inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame and was named Best Jazz Musician by Birmingham magazine.
