Click and earn money for UAB’s ArtPlay, Birmingham kids

Clicking “Like” on Facebook could mean more music in the lives of Birmingham children.

The children participate in a music program offered by ArtPlay, the city’s new home for arts education from UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Cotton States Insurance and the band Little Big Town are giving fans an easy way to help support local youth music education through Drive 4 the Music, a program to keep music alive in communities across the country. Fans can click their way to thousands of dollars in donations for the Alys Stephens Center and ArtPlay, before Little Big Town hits the stage in Birmingham.

Each click from Wednesday, Aug. 31 to Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, will earn $1 for ArtPlay. To start the donations, visit Drive 4 the Music on Facebook, “like” the page, then “like” the Alys Stephens Center to help more Birmingham students receive an excellent music education, regardless of their financial resources.

“We’re excited to partner with Cotton States as we encourage the next generation of music stars in and around Birmingham,” says Karen Fairchild from Little Big Town. “We need our fans to simply click ‘like’ on Facebook to drive in the donations.”

The money raised by Drive 4 the Music will be to help more kids participate in ArtPlay’s program for youth music education. Little Big Town and Cotton States will personally present the gift to ArtPlay students prior to their Oct. 1 show, to be held at WorkPlay.
