UAB Discussion Book Dialogues series continues with student films

Join the discussion when UAB continues its lunchtime lecture series with a presentation of two student films about programs for people with autism.

UAB will continue a series of free lectures Feb. 16, 2012, as part of its Discussion Book Dialogues for the 2011-12 selection, “Thinking in Pictures: My Life with Autism,” by Temple Grandin.

Michele Forman and Rosie O’Beirne, co-directors of Media Studies in the UAB College of Arts and Sciences, will present two student ethnographic films, “Under One Roof,” about Mitchell’s Place, and “Let Everything Flow,” about Studio by the Tracks’ adult autistic art program filmmaking courses.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Heritage Hall Room 549, 1401 University Blvd.

Discussion Book Dialogues will take place every third Thursday of the month through April 2012. The goal of the dialogues is not to push a particular agenda but to provide information to help people make more informed decisions about relevant issues. Snacks are provided.
