The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) National Alumni Society (NAS) will host the seventh annual UAB NAS 5K/10K Scholarship Run at 6 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013.
This year, the race will begin and end at the UAB National Alumni Society House, 1301 10th Ave. South. The post-race party at the Alumni House will feature food and entertainment including live music from the Jeff Otwell Band. Runners are encouraged to invite family and friends to enjoy the fun, family-friendly atmosphere. The post-race party is included for all race participants; additional guests can enjoy the catered meal for just $10 per person.
All proceeds from the race will benefit UAB student scholarships. Last year, the NAS raised nearly $80,000 for scholarships through the race and, with a goal of $100,000, is looking to exceed that this year.
Registration is $30 before the day of the race or $35 on race day. The race fee includes a T-shirt, timing chip (if requested), dinner catered by Dreamland Bar-B-Que and the post-race party. Awards will include first place overall male and female for both the 5K and 10K, as well as top male and female in the 5K and 10K by age categories.
