UAB Army ROTC will host its second annual Blazer Challenge fundraiser and recruitment fair Oct. 24

University of Alabama at BirminghamArmy2 students and staff are invited to see the new ROTC building and engage in cadet activities at the UAB Army ROTC’s second annual Blazer Challenge fundraiser and recruitment fair. The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, from 12:30-5 p.m. at 828 Eighth Court South.

“UAB Army ROTC is proud to conduct our second Blazer Challenge Philanthropy event,” said Lt. Col. Karl A. Reuter, UAB professor of military science. “This provides the community an opportunity to support a local charity as well as show off our new UAB Army ROTC facility to JROTC cadets from local high schools, members of the community, those interested in joining ROTC or the National Guard, and UAB students, faculty and staff. We welcome all who wish to participate in this military-themed event consisting of a team-based competition.” 

The official Blazer Challenge will begin at 2:30 p.m. and consist of five events. Teams of four will compete in various obstacles including litter carry, call for fire, low crawl, one-rope bridge and simulation range. Entry fees are $10 per person. All proceeds will go to Children’s of Alabama Hospital.
