Hundreds of University of Alabama at Birmingham students, faculty and staff will join forces Saturday, March 26 for the 23rd year of Into the Streets, a bi-annual service tradition sponsored by the UAB Leadership and Service Council.
Into the Streets connects UAB volunteers with different community service projects across the Birmingham area ranging from cleanup sessions, garden tending and planting, beautification support, on-site organization and more. Each fall and spring semester, UAB students, faculty, and staff come together to help the university accomplish its mission of encouraging partnerships that improve education, health, economic prosperity and quality of life.
Kickoff is at 8:30 a.m. at the Hill Student Center Amphitheater for check-in, breakfast, and an education component before departing for service. Into the Streets is broken into multiple two-hour shifts throughout the day, and volunteers will depart from the Hill Student Center Amphitheater to volunteer from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
