BAP 1Beta Alpha Psi members help pack meals to feed central Alabama's food-insecure. The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an international accounting, finance and information systems honor society, has been named a 2023 Superior Chapter.

The designation honors the Delta Chi Chapter for its excellence in academics, professionalism and leadership.

“Achieving Superior Chapter means that our chapter is doing our part to make sure members have a solid foundation to reach their educational, professional and personal goals,” said accounting major Peyton Stephenson, president of UAB’s Beta Alpha Psi. “The Delta Chi Chapter is superior in recognizing the needs of our members and uplifting a group of like-minded individuals who turn into friends, making members excited to attend meetings each week.”

Student members are involved in a range of professional activities, such as attending presentations by alumni and industry specialists, tutoring students in the Collat Tutoring Lab, and presenting at regional and national meetings. They also perform many hours of community service. This year, students joined forces with the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama to raise money and pack healthy meals for central Alabama’s food-insecure.

As part of the recognition, the chapter receives an award of $500, sponsored by KPMG LLP and the KPMG Foundation.

“This achievement represents an exceptional level of commitment to professional, service and outreach activities by all of the chapter’s members,” said accounting instructor Eddie Nabors, who serves with Marena Messina, Ph.D., as the chapter’s faculty advisors.
