Endowed student award in education established

Alexander served as assistant dean of the School of Education.

The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the Dr. Lydia L. Alexander Endowed Student Award in Education during its meeting June 14, 2013. Alexander came to the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 1974 and served in numerous academic units including six years as assistant dean in the School of Education. She secured more than $3 million in extramural funding for federal grant programs at UAB before her retirement in 1998.
