Furnishings in an array of gold and green, an artistic display of Blaze’s flames in metal panels and a colorful terrazzo floor like a dragon’s tail creatively express the spirit of UAB.
West creates immersive sculptural installations and Morris uses a variety of materials to explore issues surrounding identity, race, spirituality and cultural mythologies.
The shows include an Alabama Bicentennial tribute with music from Alabama Shakes and Sam Hunt, the Marching Blazers’ original 1994 show, and the music of Elton John and Billy Joel.
The season includes musicals “Hair” and “The Secret Garden,” with “The Wolves,” “The Glass Menagerie” and a world premiere collection of plays by Alabama playwright Audrey Cefaly.
Artists including Tank and the Bangas, Alabama Ballet, Chamber Music @ AEIVA, The Brook & The Bluff, and more will perform in every venue at UAB’s Alys Stephens Center and AEIVA.
The free, outdoor concert will kick off the Alys Stephens Center’s new 2019-2020 season of performances.
This fall, ArtPlay will take yoga into AEIVA galleries, host musical theater intensives, and offer classes in swing dancing, comics, painting, improv, guitar and much more.
Fields will oversee all daily operations and programming for AEIVA, as well as serve as a liaison for a variety of stakeholders on campus and in the community.
This event has been postponed. Sessions will include staying injury-free, entrepreneurship, touring, money strategies, social media and more, including a discussion with singer-songwriter Meshell Ndegeocello.
This summer, approximately 1,708 students will graduate from UAB, and nearly 1,000 are expected to participate in the ceremonies.
