UAB choirs to perform free concert at Southside church

UAB music students will perform a free choral concert featuring Mozart’s Coronation Mass with a chamber orchestra Oct. 25 at a local church.

Students from the UAB Department of Music will perform in the UAB Fall Choral Concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Southside Baptist Church, 11th Avenue South at 19th Street in Birmingham.

This concert will feature three choral ensembles at UAB Music, accompanied by a chamber orchestra. The choral ensembles include the new University Chorus, founded by Brian Kittredge, D.M.A., the department’s new director of choral activities. Two UAB Music voice faculty, Kristine Hurst, D.M.A., soprano, and new faculty member Won Cho, D.M.A., bass, plus two guest artists, will be soloists for the event. On the program are choral works including Mozart’s Coronation Mass, among several others.
