UAB Music: Zingara to perform work by Price at national conference

“Sans Titre VII,” composed by William Price, will be performed at the Ohio conference by James Zingara, one of a dozen performances planned.

james_zingara_storyThe University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Music will be well represented this weekend at the national conference of the Society of Composers Inc., in Columbus, Ohio.

James Zingara, D.M.A., assistant professor of trumpet and assistant director of bands in the UAB Department of Music, is set to perform at the conference on Feb. 15, 2013. He will play “Sans Titre VII” – a work composed by William Price, D.M.A., assistant professor of music, who teaches music theory and composition.

Hosted by The Ohio State University School of Music, the four-day conference will be one of the largest gatherings of composers in the country, with a dozen concerts planned, from works for large ensembles to chamber and electroacoustic works. Compositions to be performed were selected by the SCI Conference Committee.
