Start the season with UAB Music’s Christmas at the Alys on Dec. 1

Featuring UAB Concert and Chamber choirs and Brass Ensembles with area high school choirs, the performance will include traditional holiday favorites.

christmas at alys2Kick off the holiday season with Christmas at the Alys, an annual choral concert for the entire family, set for 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1.

Presented by the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Music, the theme is “The Season’s First Jingle.” The performance will include traditional holiday favorites “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Joy to the World,” “Carol of the Bells” and many more.

The show will take place in UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center, 1200 10th Ave. South. Tickets are $8 general admission and $5 for all students. Children 10 and under are admitted free. Call 205-975-2787 for ticket information. Visit UAB Music at www.uab.edu/cas/music.

Paul Dease; and choirs from Calera High School, conducted by Alice LaGrone; Gardendale High School, conducted by Ginny Hughes; Ramsay High School, conducted by Myrna Ria Ross; John Carroll High School, conducted by Lee Wright; and Mountain Brook High School, conducted by John Kincaid.
