British statistician Sir David Cox will be present for a celebration for Nengjun Yi, Ph.D., who was appointed to the Sir David Cox Endowed Professorship in Biostatistics in the UAB School of Public Health during the April 2011 meeting of the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees. The free event is open to the public and will be held Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., at the Ryals Public Health Building, Room 407.
Cox also will make a presentation Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in Ryals 407. The seminar is called “Relation between theory and practice in statistics.” It also is free and open to the public.
