The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees named Sadis Matalon, Ph.D., Dr.Sc. (Hon.) as distinguished professor of anesthesiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) during its meeting Feb. 8, 2013. Matalon is the Alice McNeal, M.D., endowed chair and vice chair for research in the Department of Anesthesiology and directs the Pulmonary Injury and Repair Center. Matalon, who joined the UAB faculty in 1987, has more than 503 publications to his credit and has served on the editorial boards of several major journals.
