Three members of the University of Alabama at Birmingham faculty from the Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology served as editors for the third edition of the “Oxford Textbook of Vasculitis.” The textbook is now available in print and online.
Co-editors are Gene V. Ball, M.D., Jane Knight Lowe Professor of Medicine emeritus; Barri J. Fessler, M.D., MSPH, associate professor; and S. Louis Bridges Jr., M.D., Ph.D., professor and director of the Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology. Ball and Bridges were co-editors of the previous two editions of the text.
The “Oxford Textbook of Vasculitis” is the definitive and most highly regarded textbook dealing with basic biological and clinical aspects of common and uncommon types of vasculitis, a group of disorders that destroys blood vessels by inflammation.
The book features 40 chapters, written by leading experts in the field from around the world. It also provides full-color photographs of clinical and pathologic findings, diagrams and tables.
“We were very pleased at the success of our previous editions and are grateful to Dr. Fessler for agreeing to work with us on this third edition,” Bridges said. “This should prove to be a valuable resource for internists, rheumatologists, clinical immunologists and other specialists who care for patients with these diseases. We have included as authors experts from around the world to provide the latest information on vasculitis.”
