The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees named Monika Safford, M.D., the inaugural holder of the Endowed Professorship in Diabetes Prevention and Control at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) during its meeting April 12, 2013. Safford, who joined UAB in 2003, is a professor in the Division of Preventative Medicine in the Department of Medicine. She is also the Assistant Dean for Continuing Medical Education in the School of Medicine.
Safford is also the Assistant Dean for Continuing Medical Education.
