The University of Georgia has awarded Lee Meadows, Ph.D., associate professor of curriculum instruction in the UAB School of Education, its David P. Butts Award for outstanding alumni of the science education program.Established in 1997, the David P. Butts Award is given annually to a UGA Science Education graduate in recognition of distinguished contributions to the field in teaching, research or service.
Meadows, a veteran educator, is noted for giving science teachers across the country the tools they need to excel in implementing inquiry-based science. He is the author of βThe Missing Link,β which shares ideas on approaching evolution in a way that may avoid hurt feelings and misunderstandings that can arise.
