UAB School of Nursing’s Harper named a Legend in White by BBNA

Each year the BBNA carefully selects nursing leaders who have made a vast impact in their field for this distinction.
Dean HarperUAB School of Nursing Dean Doreen C. Harper, Ph.D., R.N., FAAN, has been named a Legend in White by the Birmingham Black Nurses Association. Harper was honored Saturday, Nov. 2, at the 2013 Legends in White Gala at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham Wynfrey hotel.

Each year the BBNA carefully selects nursing leaders who have made a vast impact in their field for this distinction. The organization praised Harper’s leadership at the UAB School of Nursing and celebrated her emphasis on diversity.

The BBNA is a chapter of the National Black Nurses Association. The National Black Nurses Association’s mission is to represent and provide a forum for black nurses to advocate for and implement strategies to ensure access to the highest quality of healthcare for persons of color.
