Grant designed to help those with depression, HIV

School of Nursing professor will use a grant to help HIV patients struggling with depression.

Kempf_smMirjam-Colette Kempf, Ph.D., M.P.H., assistant professor in the UAB School of Nursing, has received a three-year, $683,443 grant from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Mental Health for her project, Telemedicine to Improve Depression and Adherence in HIV-Positive Women in the Rural South.

Its goal is to adapt an established and effective cognitive-behavioral therapy for depression and antiretroviral therapy adherence and test its feasibility and acceptability to HIV care-adherence among HIV-infected minority women living in the rural South.
