The UAB School of Nursing is hosting the 20th Dr. Jean A. Kelley Endowed Lectureship noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 16 at the school, with guest lecturer Souraya Sidani, Ph.D., professor and Canada Research Chair at the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing at Ryerson University and professor at Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto.
Sidani will present her lecture “The argument for treatment preferences in research.” Her research evaluates interventions delivered at the individual or organizational level, and on refining research methods and measures for determining the clinical effectiveness of interventions. Sidani is editor of the book, “When Research Goes Off the Rails: Why It Happens and What You Can Do About It.”
The Dr. Jean A. Kelley Endowed Lecture was established at the UAB School of Nursing in 1989 to honor the significant influence Kelley had in nursing. Kelley, a UAB alumna, chaired the school’s Department of Administration, and she spent 19 years as the associate dean for graduate programs. She was inducted into the Alabama Healthcare Hall of Fame in 1998.
